Romans 8:26
English Standard Version
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Berean Literal Bible
Now likewise also, the Spirit joins to help us in weakness; for we do not know the things which we should pray for as it behooves, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession with inexpressible groanings.

Future Glory
…25 But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. 27 And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.…

When we enter into a time of prayer there are many ways the Holy Spirit will partner with us.  There are different types of prayer, such as: tongues, interpretation of tongues, petition, supplication, decrees, declares and more.  Today, I will share a little on the topic of "Groaning in the Spirit."

Groaning in the Spirit-Online School of Prayer With Christ,

I remember over thirty years ago I was in a prayer meeting and in the Old Time House Movements women would do odd things in prayer.  For example, some women would be sitting in a chair and they would physically begin to have a baby, when they were not pregnant.  At other times they would bend over in the chair and ask for several mid-wifes, to bring birth of a baby when they were not pregnant.  During this time I also witnessed Old Time House Movements in prayer meetings when women would stand next to a wall with their hands up -trying to go through the wall and walk away thinking that "Was a powerful prayer meeting."

You might be laughing when you read those words, or, you might be saying "That sounds crazy" but it is true.  Movements like these in prayer are not prayer because "Prayer is based upon the finished works of the cross, by faith."  Prayer is getting heaven's perspective on faith and life by calling forth God's heart into the earth and more.

For that reason Jesus said, "When you pray" Matthew 6

~~Yet, in today's topic "Groaning in the Spirit" has everything to do with "Exchange of the burden of the Holy Spirit to you until breakthrough comes."~~

Biblical Example of Groaning in the Spirit

1 Samuel 1:9-28  New Living Translation (NLT)

Hannah’s Prayer for a Son
9 Once after a sacrificial meal at Shiloh, Hannah got up and went to pray. Eli the priest was sitting at his customary place beside the entrance of the Tabernacle.[a] 10 Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord.

11 And she made this vow: “O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, if you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a sign that he has been dedicated to the Lord, his hair will never be cut.”

12 As she was praying to the Lord, Eli watched her. 13 Seeing her lips moving but hearing no sound, he thought she had been drinking. 14 “Must you come here drunk?” he demanded. “Throw away your wine!”

15 “Oh no, sir!” she replied. “I haven’t been drinking wine or anything stronger. But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord. 16 Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.”

17 “In that case,” Eli said, “go in peace! May the God of Israel grant the request you have asked of him.”

18 “Oh, thank you, sir!” she exclaimed. Then she went back and began to eat again, and she was no longer sad.

Groaning in the Spirit-Online School of Prayer With Christ,
1. Hannah wept--She could not speak in audible words, she could only weep moving her mouth wide over her enemy of barrenness and grief.  Here, Hannah wanted a child and wept bitterly before the Lord. (13 Seeing her lips moving but hearing no sound, )

2.  Tears are an exchange of the Holy Spirit to you, to bring it forth in the earth out of deep love and passion in prayer.  Hannah wanted a child, and the Holy Spirit wanted a Prophet whose name became Samuel. (10 Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the Lord.

3. Tears is the difference between seasons of answered and unanswered prayer--but, it is the realm of Peace that causes tears to accomplish the release of the burden of the Holy Spirit in prayer. (15 I was pouring out my heart to the Lord.)

4. Groaning in prayer is "Praying out of grief, anguish, deep Love from fullness of heart."  (16 Don’t think I am a wicked woman! For I have been praying out of great anguish and sorrow.”)

Groaning in the Spirit-Online School of Prayer With Christ,

Jeremiah, was called the "Weeping Prophet", has this name because these tears represented prayer.
The  name Jeremiah means, "Yah exalts"

Jeremiah wept in prayer mostly because there was conflict with false prophets and false prophesies, and out of Love for a Nation and the heart of God he always wept in prayer with groanings.  For this reason he also wrote "Lamentations."

Jesus "Wept" on the cross.  His tears were tears of groaning out of anguish, grief, and deep Love.

There is a great opportunity in the Body of Christ to learn about "Groaning in the Spirit."  Today, I gave you a few examples in the Word of God on this thought.

Over three years ago I did a teaching on"Groaning in the Spirit" for those at Online School of Prayer With Christ to learn.  I would like to make this available for you today if this is answered prayer for you. During this time, a person came into the School and made an audio to text transcription for you and it is now a book.
