Aaron the Prophet of Moses
Study of Christian Prophets
Welcome to the Seer's House Where Seers of Jesus Meet in the Secret Place
Part One: Volume One
Exo 6:20 KJV
And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses: and the years of the life of Amram were an hundred and thirty and seven years.
The study of the Life of Aaron brings us to his birth, who is the brother of Moses. The name of Aaron's mother was Jochebed, and not much of her life is recorded in the Bible. Yet, what is written about her is amazing. For example, she gave birth to Moses who she trusted God to protect at his birth by putting him in the Nile River. In addition, she gave birth to Aaron who would become the high priest of Israel.
As you study the life of Prophets in the Bible, it is interesting to see that most of the Prophets lived the life of a Seer. Each Prophet had encounters in the Lord where they had visions given by God to each of them.
Yet, when you study the Life of Aaron as a Prophet, "He was a Prophet sent by God to perform miracles, and he was not given to supernatural visions on a regular basis." However, as you look a little closer at Aaron as the Prophet of God "He spoke the words of Moses that the Lord spoke to Moses, and Aaron is the one who performed these signs in the midst of the people."
Let's take a closer look at the word of God in this statement to note.
Exo 4:27-30
And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him. 28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him. 29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel: 30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.
One Assignment: Four Functions of the Prophet Aaron's Life
1. Aaron heard God's Voice speak directly to him, which designates him to be a Prophet.
2. Aaron was commissioned by God-as a Prophet, on where to go and what his assignment would be.
3. Aaron oversaw the Elders of the children of Israel, as a High Priest.
4. Aaron spoke the words of God that was spoken to Moses, and did the signs & miracles that God told Moses to do. (These miracles are a separate study.)
What is the Difference Between Old Testament Prophets
and New Testament Prophets?
5. Old Testament Prophets heard the voice of God on behalf of the people as the people could not hear God's voice on their own.
6. New Testament Prophets teach people to hear God speak by the Holy Spirit through Grace and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
7. Old Testament Prophets did signs, wonders, miracles and operated in the gifts of the Holy Spirit--and the people did not.
8. New Testament Prophets teach expressly that the demonstration of the Holy Spirit is available to all by Grace through faith-to do the works and work out of the finished works of Christ Jesus.
Interesting Facts to Know
- I bet you did not know, "There were only two other high priests of Israel: Melchezideck and Christ Jesus" and Aaron being the third. (Not in that order.)
- When the Aaronic Priesthood was established in Israel the land lived in peace, and had no reliance upon government in the land. God was their full supply of all things, and for this reason I believe that the "Priesthood is greater than the Prophet." If you think of it, "David tried to establish a Priesthood unto God -yet when they were all taken at the hand of Saul--King David and the land suffered turmoil." For this reason, the Body of Christ is called a "Royal Priesthood, and a peculiar people." A Nation that is ruled in Righteousness and Peace, built upon the Priesthood of God's Word will exalt that Nation. For this reason, "Aaron's Rod budded --or, the Priesthood he established would be fulfilled in the Law of Life in Christ Jesus who is the Resurrection of Life."
- The Rod of Aaron had power even when he did not hold it in his hands and did miracles.
- Like Moses, Aaron did not enter into the promised land as we know it.
Numbers 20:24
"Aaron will be gathered to his people. He will not enter the land I give the Israelites, because both of you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah."
Here is a little something put together for you on the topic of "Aaron's Rod." It is not fully informative but it is great to study.
